Mood: Inbetween..
Skincare i’ve tried so far

Holy moly, this shea butter stuff really is a miracle! I have only used it twice a day since tuesday and the difference on my skin is very noticable. Obviously i still need makeup when i’m going outside, but the redness in my face has gone down a lot and my skin isn’t as dry and damaged anymore around the old spots/scarring. And it doesn’t seem to make me break out! Waaaah i seriously hope my face continues to improve like this, then it shouldn’t take to look for me to wake up and to not fear looking in the mirror anymore :)

I can’t believe it really works, because since January (when my skin started to act crazy again because of my messed up hormones) i have used so many other products that also claimed to heal the skin:

  1. Calendulan cream (homeopathic) —> it does work on reducing redness from scars, but it takes a lot of time and it lead to minor blackheads
  2. Alhydran medical scarring cream —> it worked better (faster) than the calendulan cream for fading scars because of all the vitamin e ingredients and such, but still no major improvements. No new problem spots because of it though
  3. Snail cream —> At first i thought this ‘wonder’cream worked for me, but as it turns out after 1,5 - 2 weeks, my skin got incredibly many small pimples underneath it. SUPERcrazy stuff, i honestly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone if you’re prone to acne.
  4. Eryacne lotion (doctor prescription) --> local antibiotic with high alcohol%. I find this made my skin dry out around a week after first using it, so emerging pimples will mostly go away or peel off. This lotion does work a bit, but it takes some time and the dryness isn’t very pleasant either. Plus, it does absolutely nothing for scarring/damaged skin.

Plus, i finally got my period again last week after half a year! Friday i have a doctor appointment to talk about my whole hormonal situation and hopefully she approves to get me back on the pill again, because i think that also helped my skin a lot. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Has anyone ever used RAW SHEABUTTER for their skin?

I was wondering if any of you have any good experiences with raw, unrefined sheabutter for curing acne scars (damaged skin and red patches)?

Because of my messed up hormones my skin has been acting crazy since January. I wanted to get rid of the scarring so i started using snail creme, but unfortunately after 2 weeks of using it it has made everything worse. I now have tiny little unpoppable under-surface pimples everywhere.

Right now, my order of shea butter from ebay has arrived and i’ve read some really good reviews about it.. but what do you think? Don’t wanna break out even more.. although i’ve read that sheabutter also helps pimples go away. I’m a bit skeptic, but also very desperate..?

19 and still having skin problems?!

Damn you, mirrors with ultra bright light which make me see all my pores and imperfections on my face. And damn the mirrors which actually make me look kinda good, only to find out later that they showed everything better than it looks in real life.

Too bad that the stress I’ve been feeling for the last 6 months has its obvious effect on my skin (and that’s it’s forming a chicken-and-egg situation). It has been worse.. but it also has been way better. About 2 years ago my skin was a lot worse because of picking and having all kind of little wounds. The scars from that period are completely vanished now. So why do I keep getting all this scarring now from really little spots and why won’t it fade away, even when I’m using special skin products? It’s summer and I want to be able to get ready with just a little layer of foundation on my skin and not having to worry about it all the time. Every time some parts of my face seem to get better, other areas are showing new problems.

Patience. Time is all it takes. And good care and NO picking. And sun! (although sunlight can also damage your skin, causing permanent scars by ‘burning’ spots into your skin..) Wish it didn’t make me so insecure.
